Supervision

I’m pleased to now offer professional supervision to fellow psychologists and trainees, as well as other health professionals who work in a related field, and who want to forward their understanding of health psychology in their own clinical practice. My supervision approach is friendly, collaborative, reflective, and tailored to your professional needs, whether you are seeking guidance on complex cases, support in developing your independent practice, or a safe space to explore ethical and professional dilemmas. My approach combines evidence-based theory with real-world application, helping to develop competence and confidence, and nurturing both professional and personal growth. Supervision is offered online for your convenience, with evening sessions available in the UK to fit around busy schedules. I charge £130 per session. (If you are outside of the UK, I charge $180 US dollars per session.) If you’d like to know more about me, you can read about my background [here]. You’ll also find my Blog [here], where I write about topics connected to my clinical work.

I don’t subscribe to a single, fixed model of supervision, as both research and experience show that the most effective supervision blends different styles, techniques, and approaches to suit the specific context. I also invite supervisees to share their views on what good supervision looks and feels like for them. Indeed, supervision is most effective when tailored to your specific context, career stage, and development needs. However, while the format can vary, core elements remain the same: professional guidance, emotional support, and ethical oversight. It should address every aspect of your work, from client care and research to the administrative realities of practice. Importantly, supervision is not only about discussing client work. It is also a space to support your professional growth, protect your well-being, and guard against burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary trauma. It should provide intellectual challenge, personal reflection, a sense of safety, and contribute to your Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

The British Psychological Society (BPS) strongly encourages all practicing Health Psychologists to receive regular supervision as an essential part of maintaining and developing their professional practice. For those in full-time practice, the BPS recommends a minimum of one hour of supervision each month, ideally spread consistently across the year. Newly qualified or less experienced practitioners may benefit from more frequent sessions.

Regular supervision is a widely accepted professional and ethical standard, helping to ensure safe and effective practice for all practitioner psychologists. Regular supervision isn’t just a professional box to tick, it’s a vital space to reflect, grow, and protect your well-being. Whether you’re newly qualified or highly experienced, supervision offers guidance, ethical oversight, and the support you need to work safely and effectively. It keeps your skills sharp, your practice ethical, and your passion for psychology alive.

Let’s Work Together!
